Yesterday afternoon, Jon and I arrived in Tulamben around half past four. The others were there already, lounging lazily in the lovely open livingroom of our huge villa. We had a nice little pool, a fantastic lawn, and the sea just beyond. We joined them in the good life until we were picked up for… Continue reading Luxury in Tulamben

Bye bye Bali
Since I finished my diving specialties, I haven’t really been doing much… My days have been spent on the beach, walking around Sanur, surfing the net and watching movies and tv series. I’ve had excellent company in my days of laziness, though. I managed to get in touch with Leonid, a couchsurfer I met in… Continue reading Bye bye Bali
God påske, Happy Easter!
Today is Easter Sunday and I googled church in Sanur, and found the Gateway Community Church, where they celebrate Sunday Service at 10am every Sunday. I hailed a bemo and got there at 9:35, and was perplexed that there were no cars outside. When I came up to the door, it said that the congregation… Continue reading God påske, Happy Easter!

Passed my I.E. today, I am now an Open Water Scuba Instructor! Will be in teaching status as soon as the paperwork goes through! 😀 The result wasn’t as good as I was hoping/expecting, but a 4.2 and a 4.0 on the two Open Water Teaching presententations are still well on the safe side. 🙂… Continue reading Uncle Travelling Scuba Instructor!

Since my last post, I’ve been a busy little bee… As you know, I’ve been working hard on becoming a scuba instructor. The first of our two dives was a dive to 39 meters, practicing teaching deep diving.… Continue reading IE – Instructor Examinations
IDC part 2
In the week since my last post, I’ve mostly been studying, but there’s also been a rather special day here in Bali… Not much interesting to say about the studies, other than list what I’ve done. We finished the Assistant Instructor part of the course, and then we did an Emergency First Response Instructor course,… Continue reading IDC part 2
$850 shopping spree
Today I finally managed to find time to go shopping for diving equipment. It took an hour, and it meant me sitting in the class room preparing for my knowledge development presentation on Peak Performance Buoyancy till nine this evening, but it had to be done, and I’m eager to try it out! *Warning, this… Continue reading $850 shopping spree
IDC
It’s been a few days since I landed in Bali, and my internet access has been sporadic at best. I did a clean install of xp on my eee, but it’s still so slow it seems fast only in geological terms. I for some reason was unable to reinstall the nLited version I was running… Continue reading IDC
Kuala Lumpur Layover
My flight arrived on time in Stansted, which meant I had an eight-and-a-half hour stopover before my flight to KL. We landed in KL 30 minutes ahead of schedule, after a twelve-and-a-half hour flight. I caught a bus downtown and a taxi to a hotel, had a meal of mee goreng, and went to bed.… Continue reading Kuala Lumpur Layover
